A strong Leeds side looked to be heading for their first defeat since October, but a late headed own goal by Liam Shaw, who has put Wednesday ahead earlier in the half, gave Leeds a point.

A goalless first half, only noting a possible injury to new signing, Jean-Kevin Augustin, had Leeds on top. But, against the run of play, Wednesday opened the scoring on the hour mark when a Manuel Hidalgo free kick was palmed away by Illan Meslier in the Whites goal, only to be diverted home by Ciaran Brennan.

Leeds got a promising free kick of their own 13 minutes later. Huggins stood over the ball and whipped in a cross too close to the keeper. However, a miscommunication between Joe Wildsmith in the Wednesday goal and a nearby defender resulted in the ball bobbling in.

The score didn’t stay level for long. Dawodu cut his way through the Leeds defence and played in Shaw who fired Wednesday in to the lead only sixty seconds after conceding.

Shaw would end the day with the wrong kind of brace. With time running out he turned the ball into his own net from a Bryce Hosannah cross.
